So how do the Badlands get it's beautiful colors ๐ค๐ค๐ค Due to the land being so ruthlessly ravaged by wind and water for thousands and thousands of years, mother nature has artistically made this place a true piece of art ๐จ. The Badlands are a wonderland of bizarre, colorful spires and pinnacles, massive buttes and deep gorges. Erosion of the Badlands creates & reveals sedimentary layers of different colors: purple and yellow (shale), tan and gray (sand and gravel), red and orange (iron oxides) and white (volcanic ash).
