Falls Park, South Dakota

Located smack dab in the middle of North Central Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Falls Park was definitely an experience like no other! The entire park 🏞️ is literally built around the Big Sioux River which has several waterfalls within it.
.
As spring 🌱 dawns, the foam from the waterfall begins to rise & can look pervasive like sheets and mounds of off-white bubbly fluff, or even the appearance of snow floating upon the water. As inviting as this may look, beneath that foam lies dangerous water, which has claimed the lives of many. Since 1982 there have been 9 recorded deaths πŸ’€ as a result of drownings at Falls Park.
.
Why is the water so green 🟒? The water is green due algae that grows there. In the summer time when the water heats up the algae produces a cyanobacteria which can be toxic and if ingested by animals or humans, sickness is imminent and in some cases death ☠️... Not to worry as in the winter and the colder seasons the threat actually diminishes.
.
Hopefully none of this information has deterred u from visiting Falls Park as this place was actually pretty awesome!!! 😎😎😎
