Chimney Rock, NE

Here lies Nebraska's iconic Chimney Rock! Looks small but this mighty hill is no small task to summit! I ALMOST SLID TO MY DEATH πŸ˜…πŸ’€ trying to climb it... Located only 20 miles away from Scottsbluff National Monument, the hiking trail πŸ₯ΎπŸ‘£ starts off across the street from the Chimney Rock Cemetery which will lead you through 3 deep ravines, & eventually to the base of the bluff which will take approximately 20-30 mins. The hill itself is a WHOLE LOT STEEPER THAN IT LOOKS!!!
.
Chimney Rock is a natural geologic formation, a remnant of the erosion of the bluffs at the edge of the North Platte Valley. A slender spire rises 325 feet from a conical base. The imposing formation, composed of layers of volcanic ash and brule clay dating back to the Oligocene Age (34 million to 23 million years ago), towers 480 feet above the North Platte River Valley.
